Chairman of US Senate Armed Services Committee: Trump’s decision will not change international community’s position on Western Sahara as decolonization issue

US Senator for Oklahoma and chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Jim Inhofe, has confirmed that Trump’s decision does not change the United Nations or EU positions, nor the charter of the African Union, nor the opinion of the ICJ.

In a statement Thursday, the US senator called for the referendum of the Sahrawi people, urging the world organizations to stand strong to support Western Sahara’s right to self-determination.

He expressed his confident the U.S. will be able to return to the policy on Western Sahara it has held since 1966.
